ZAYER, CORREA, ADDILAN Y SAVVY, WINNERS OF THE 2018 INNOVATION AWARDS FOR ADVANCED AND DIGITAL MANUFACTURING

• In the Machine-tool category, ZAYER and CORREA have won the Machine-tool and Components subcategory awards, respectively
• ADDILAN has received the award for Additive Manufacturing
• The company SAVVY has been the winner in the Industry 4.0 category
• The AFM-SIF award for the best end of degree project has also been presented

The presentation of the National Innovation Award for Advanced and Digital Manufacturing organised by AFM, Advanced Manufacturing Technologies with the support of BEC and Beaz (Bizkaia Innovation Agency) took place this morning in Bilbao Exhibition Centre (BEC), in the course of the Machine Tool Biennial.

The President of AFM CLUSTER, César Garbalena and the Councillor for Economic Promotion of the Bizkaia County Council, Imanol Pradales, together with Xabier Basañez, Managing Director of BEC, Alberto Alonso Martín, Managing Director of Osalan, Alfonso Urzainki, President of ADDIMAT and Xabier Ortueta, Managing Director of AFM CLUSTER handed out the awards in this thirteenth edition.

The judges, made up of SPRI, TECNUN, the University of the Basque Country, Mondragon Unibertsitatea, Ergogroup, Osalan, EIDE, IHOBE, CDTI, BEAZ and BIC GIPUZKOA have taken into account technology, innovation, design, ergonomics, safety and sustainability criteria when awarding the prizes.

The presentation of the Innovation Awards has also included the presentation of another award, the AFM-SIF (Manufacturing Engineering Society) Award, the result of the close collaboration that AFM and SIF have initiated. It is the AFM special mention to the best end of degree project related to the machine-tool sector that has been awarded to the student from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Rodrigo Alonso Pérez Úbeda for his project, “Design and manufacture of a low-cost custom torque sensor”.

The award for innovation in machine-tools has been presented to the company Zayer for its multifunction machining centre with milling-turning, which the judges have considered for its high technological and innovative level integrating the milling and turning processes.

The Innovation Award for machine-tool components has been presented to the company CORREA for its UDX (Universal Diferencial Xtreme) milling head that incorporates a significant technological leap.

In the same category, the judges agreed to give a special mention to the company TALLERES MYL for its spindle for deep hole grinding.

The Innovation Award for additive and 3D manufacturing has been presented to the company ADDILAN, for its WAAM VO.1 additive machine prototype. The aim of the Judges has been to recognise the development of a complete solution, with in-house production, for the manufacture of large-sized and value-added pieces.

The company MIZAR has received a special mention in the same category for its aircraft engine component manufactured under ITP AERO standards.

The Innovation Award for integration of 4.0 concepts in advanced manufacturing systems has been presented to SAVVY DATA SYSTEMS, with its 360º Platform for Machine-Tool and Capital Goods manufacturers. The Judges have considered that it presents a comprehensive and technologically very ambitious solution with great market expectations.
The project presented jointly by IBARMIA, ZAYER and SHUTON, entitled smart and connected machines for servitization throughout the entire value chain: components-machine users, has received a special mention in this category.
