On November 6 and 7, 2019, CIDETEC Surface Engineering brings together the main experts in postprocessing technologies parts produced by additive manufacturing in San Sebastian at the PostAdditive 2019 conference. During these two days, a global vision of the latest advances and the industrial opportunities offered by these technologies with presentations at the highest level of both providers of technology, products and services as well as end users.
Additive manufacturing has been incorporated into the landscape of industrial production technologies and today we are at the doors of its massive implementation in various industries. However, a very high percentage of the pieces obtained by additive manufacturing require the removal of supports and / or a significant decrease in surface roughness. The solutions currently used at the industrial level either require too many manual operations or entail an expense that, in most cases, can be half the final cost of the piece.
The surface roughness of a piece manufactured by additive can vary between 7 and 25 µm and affects functional properties such as fatigue resistance, friction properties, corrosion resistance, etc. To avoid the use of hazardous electrolytes, some research has focused on the development of new non-toxic electrolytes and the application of immersion processes, such as electropolishing and chemical polishing, which are postulated as the most promising for the treatment of parts with complex geometries.
Postadditive’19 will address all these issues and offer a global and up-to-date vision of the latest technology solutions at the service of the industry.
