Reinforce3D is a new start-up aimed to further develop and commercialize the Continuous Fibre Injection Process (CFIP) technology. CFIP is a new post-process technology which drastically improves the mechanical and lightweighting performance of 3D printed parts by reinforcing them with continuous fibres such as carbon fibres.
The business model of Reinforce3D is based on commercializing the equipment required for performing the process (especially the injection machine), the materials (especially the continuous fibres, which are specifically treated for enabling the process), other system related consumables and, more in the future, the design and optimization software.
While the other existing Continuous Fibre Reinforced Additive Manufacturing (CFRAM) technologies are based on reinforcing the part during the Additive Manufacturing (AM) process, CFIP is the first technology which is based on reinforcing the part after the AM process. This breakthrough approach provides the following disruptive advantages: it allows to place the fibres in all directions following complex trajectories (also between printing layers); parts made by any existing AM technology and material can be reinforced, including plastics, metals and ceramics; it enables to integrally join different parts with fibre continuity between them, providing an ultrahigh joining performance.
